Imperfections in the surface are a feature of the thick, hand-dipped majolica glaze.
The earthenware clay used to make these pieces comes from the hills outside of Florence. This iron-rich local clay has been used for centuries to make the majolica ceramics the region is famous for.
Fired to 960 degrees Celsius, the clay body remains porous and not fully vitrified, so your low-fired ceramics benefit from being handled with love and attention. Wash them by hand rather than in the dish-washer, and do not put them in the micro-wave.
Due to the small production and hand-made nature of the product, items may not be returned or exchanged.
